RetestLog

Every service, on the record

When a fire official, a customer or your own office asks what was done to a unit, the answer is in RetestLog: who did the work, under which license, what passed, what failed, and what happened next.

What each service record holds

  • The service: monthly inspection, annual maintenance, six-year maintenance, recharge, or a new unit placed in service.
  • The date, and the technician who did the work.
  • The technician’s license or permit number, taken from their profile when the record is saved and kept as it was then. A monthly inspection names the inspector instead.
  • Each checklist item, pass or fail, with a deficiency note and photos on a failure.
  • The parts replaced, and for six-year maintenance and recharges, whether a verification-of-service collar went on.
  • A red tag, what is impaired, and when and how you told the owner and the fire official.
  • A check that the technician signed the physical service tag by hand. RetestLog does not replace that signature.

Why it matters. OSHA has employers inspect extinguishers monthly and keep the annual maintenance date on record (29 CFR 1910.157(e)(2) and (e)(3)). States that license extinguisher technicians ask for the technician’s license number and signature on the service tag, for example California (19 CCR 596.5) and Texas (28 TAC 34.520).

Your license number on every document

Each location keeps its state license number and expiry date, and RetestLog warns you 60 days before it runs out. The service report and the unit’s certificate carry your agency license number: the location’s own when it has one, otherwise the shop’s.

Corrected, never overwritten

A saved record is never changed. A correction is a new version with a reason, and the record’s history shows every version, who saved it and when. A record saved in error is voided by an admin, with a reason, and stays in the history marked void. Admin actions go in the shop’s audit log, and changes to people, roles, shop settings and voids are also emailed to every admin.

One unit’s history, in seconds

Search for the serial number, or open the customer. Every service on that unit comes up, with its date and result.

Your customer can check a unit themselves

Every unit has an ID label with a QR code. Scanned, it opens a page that shows the unit, its service status and its latest service, with a certificate to print. The page leaves out customer details, prices and test values. The technician’s license number appears only if your shop turns that on. You can hide a customer’s units from it.

The public page a customer sees after scanning an extinguisher's ID label: an In date status, the servicing shop, the unit's serial number, agent, manufacturer, year and size, and its latest service with the agency license number. Demo data.

Complete records, in your hands

RetestLog makes sure each record is complete when it saves, and puts any unit’s history in your hands. How an inspection goes also depends on the equipment, the work and your people. Each state adopts its own edition of NFPA 10, so check the schedule against the edition your state uses. RetestLog is not affiliated with the NFPA or any fire marshal’s office.
